Re: Trailer fender

Ok thanks! Yeah it is a vintage trailer. There is a fender on one side so hoping to get one to match or get two new ones.

Trailer fender

I just realized I need a fender for my trailer. Does anyone have one they could sell or know where I could get one? Thanks.

Re: Refinishing interior

Ok thanks. Is there a certain brand of stripper to use? I used a heat gun on the outside and that worked great! One other question I have since we are talking about the interior. What would have been the original floor for this boat? The boards look good but they had some kind of plastic glued to it...

Refinishing interior

I've finally started restoration of my 58 Sea Lancer. It is going good even though it is more time consuming than I thought it would be. One area I am having some trouble is in the interior. I have taken out the floor and have exposed the inside of the hull. Surprisingly it is in good condition. I h...

Re: gale engines

Received the engine manual yesterday from outboardbooks.com Very happy with it as it only covers my engine and is very detailed. This should lower my chances of making mistakes quite a bit! Now I need to order some parts and get this thing running. Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Is this accurate layout

I see the metal pan is bent up on yours too. I was thinking of having a new stainless one made up. I like the light with the big mast much better. It looks pretty cool!

Re: gale engines

Well I found out it is a 1960, the first year Gale made this model. They only made the 60hp through 1963. That aomci forum is very helpful and have managed to find a few places for parts. Also have the engine upright and trying to troubleshoot it. Pulls over even though it is rather tough to pull. I...

Is this accurate layout

I have been struggling to find pictures online for a couple of things. First is the transom and layout of the aft portion of the boat as far as battery box, fuel tank placement, and metal pan. Is this accurate layout? I am questioning the metal pan. I'm sure there is name for it but wonder if it was...

Re: gale engines

After taking a look at it, it does appear to have a generator. I have not run the engine yet as it is not attached to the boat but the harness is there as well and the controls are mounted in the boat. I would like to set it upright so I can work on it and test it but not sure how to do it. I tried ...

Re: gale engines

Thanks! I was considering getting rid of it. What brand was typical for these boats back then as far as brand? Is it more just a personal preference between Mercury, Johnson, etc or did Thompson deal with a certain manufacturer at that time?

gale engines

I just got a '58 Sea Lancer and it came with a 1963 Gale 60hp Gale engine. I have never even heard of Gale before but after some googling I found out more. I am assuming this is not the original engine. It hasn't been run in years but I'm wondering if it is worth keeping and using or better to get w...

Looking for leaks

Hi I have a 58 sea lancer I want to start working on. I have a couple weeks of vacation coming up and want to start fixing it. My plan was to take out the seats and get the floor out and clean it up. I also wanted to back it into the water at the boat landing to see if it has any leaks. I know I was...
