Dumpster Diving

I went diving last week! A huge church here in town ripped out an old organ, probably 40 years old and they filled a roll off dumpster with old mahogany. I got several pieces 3/4" by 12" x 6 foot, and a lot of plank sizes. I could not believe that they did not try and recycle any of it. Ca...

Cruisers Inc back home

I bought back a boat that I had restored several years ago. The people I sold it to used it a couple of times and then put it into storage. Besides being a little dirty she is as was delivered. Look forward to bringing her back to life angain after a long slumber. http://imageshack.us/a/img390/4904/...

I would consider tightening all screws and bolts on laps. Sand off and expose covered screws, pick out the old filler and tighten screws into ribs then tighten bolts ( someone working on the inside to hold nut) on laps, I did that several years ago to my 20' Seacamper and found most screws and espec...

Cabin Refinish

I am taking advantage of the rainy cool weather to refinish the cabin interior of my 65 Cruisers Inc Seacamper. The ceiling veneer is in bad shape and hull interior is due a sprucing up. http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9528/42689927633620467461338.jpg http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/588/420856...

There is a metal strip that runs from the end of the keel cap to the transom. It is that way on my 20' also. Supposedly the keel cap did not go to the back to avoid cavitation. I made a keel cap on an 18' seacamper that went all the way to the transom and could'nt tell the difference.

Peter, Here is a link to a 65 Thompson we restored a couple of years ago. It has some decent shots of transom in a 16'. http://www.thompsondockside.com/views/viewtopic.php?t=3390 I have restored a 20' Cruisers inc also that would have a very similar transom. http://www.thompsondockside.com/views/vie...
