Looked at the Pictures. I must say that I think that the hull looks great. it is amazing what can be done to repair these old hulls. I am at the point with my offshore that it is ready for primer. Just didn't do as much work to it this winter as I wanted. Did manage to go through the twin 35 Johnson...

I have seen separation like this on other boats. Worked on a large CC Holiday utility inboard and we never did get the covering planks to fit perfect at the transom corners. These wooden boats have a lot of flex. Alot more than people realize. Even more so on the open cockpit/utility syle boats. Tra...

The Classic Boat Connection has the fastners you will need. If you google them it will bring up their catalog on line. Good people to deal with. You might as well replace the carriage bolts as well, they have these also. Do some diagonal bracing of the cockpit to help the boat keep it shape. With am...

The only problem I could foresee from using Rustolium or some thing like it is when it comes time to repaint. You will have to use the same product or you will have bonding issues. Back in my hot rodding days we used to paint our cars with a small roller and multiple coats of Rustolium. We would the...

You will need at least the keelson in place (inner keel as you called it) to attach the new ribs to. Hope you have the old one for a pattern. Replacing both the shear strakes will go along way towards them matching. The use of CPES is strictly up to you. Yes it is expensive but it will help to prote...

When scarfing wood both pieces are tapered. If you look at some of the posted pics you can see where the old laps have been tapered, the new ones will look the same on the back side. Average ratio for scarfing seems to be about 8-1. For every inch of board thickness you woud have 1 inch of length. S...

Not a stupid question at all. The garboards are the two wide planks on either side of your keel on the bottom of the boat. If you scroll back thru the restoration threads Andreas posted one on boat nomenclature. It will give you all the names of the different parts on your Thompson. Have fun with yo...
