Correct HP Outboard

Hello, It's been a while since I have posted on here. I have a question about horsepower. I restored a 17' 1959 Barbour Silver Clipper lapstrake runabout a while back and purchased a 1971 Johnson 60 HP outboard. The Johnson has been nothing but trouble, and I am looking to get something newer and de...

1970 Johnson 60 HP

Hi, Trying to figure out where to start in getting my ob to run. I have a vintage Johnson 1970 60HP 3 cylinder (hydro-electric) that ran fine with earmuffs in my carport, but ran for only about 10 min. when I put her in the water and got her out into the lake in low speed. Stopped running and I coul...

60 HP Johnson Mounting

Up until now I have only had boats that required a simple clamp mount to mount a low power outboard to the transom... I just finished renovating a 1959 Barbour and want to use a 1970 60 HP Johnson for power. The motor came with 2 mounting brackets. I mounted the motor on the brackets, and it is curr...

WHere can I find replacement wood screws? Any suggestions? This place is impossible to find around here in North Carolina. I need veri...

Cleaning chrome / aluminum trim

Had a lot of time the last month and have been moving along on my 59' Barbour. The previous owner painted over every inch of aluminum and chrome with some type of thick metalic gold paint. I took a small piece of aluminum trim, coated it with paint stripper and used a rough towel to clean it off. Th...

Windsheild Trim

I'm restoring a 1959 Barbour Silver Clipper and it's mising the port side windshield trim from the wooden frame. The trim is a 1/4" extruded aluminum quarter round. Does anyone know where to find this material? I have found it in round and square, but not in quarter round profile....just trying...

Nice

She looks great!
Noticed the painted decks.
I'm working on a 1959 Barbour and considering doing canvased decks over the old plywood.
Did you use canvas? If so, what kind?
Thanks,
Tom
