If the boat is not moored in the water there is not much need for bottom paint. Regular hull paint is fine.
Bottom paint is needed when a boat sets in the water all the time when marine growth has a chance to bond to the surface.

The Thompson I have has a problem with the tarp. Where I normally keep it, I just use bungee cords to secure the tarp on it, b/c the boat is on a life.
