The foredeck and aftdeck on the '58 Cruisers Holiday was painted yellow. I would like to do them both in blond, stained and varnished wood. What type of wood and stain will I want to use?

Cruisers
Andreas, It's John Baas. I sent you pix of the two Cruisers that followed me home a week ago. The 14' is in pieces all over the garage. The 16' is the one with the hogged bottom. Closer examination...doesn't really look that bad. Can a hogged hull be Un-hogged? John http://i209.photobucket.com/album...

Holiday I.D. Stamp
How 'bout one with upside down backward letters or numbers? What year is this Holiday? Should we race to see who's is done first? Ok...you win! http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/vernonfarmer/Cruisers%20Inc/CruisersInc034.jpg http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/vernonfarmer/Cruisers%20Inc/C...

Flipping a Lapstrake
I need to refinish the bottom of my 17' Chetek lapstrake. Please help with any tips on flipping and supporting the upside down boat. Any plans for a handy dolly so I can move the boat once flipped? I don't know if this is possible or not, but I really don't want to remove the wood-framed windshield....

I've used a product called Star 10 to strip varnish and stain from my wood deck. Works great and is non toxic. Don't even need rubber gloves.

More Chetek
I can't believe I just now (12-24-10) found this thread! NIce photos, Neil. After boat production ended, Chetek made toboggans and dog sleds. Someone brought a toboggan to the show... http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb79/vernonfarmer/Chetek%20Boat%20Reunion%202010/ChetekLakewood036.jpg My wife, P...

Where is the Flag Chick?
Some time ago, I found a website at flagchick.com. I was told she could make any style of burgee or boat pennant. Now the URL doesn't work. Any idea if she's still around?

Spray-On Varnish?
Happy New Year!
Has anyone heard of spraying varnish with a paint spray gun? Would this work at all?
I'm thinking it might be easier to spray the interior hull, especially under the deck. Dumb idea or what?
Thanks,
John

Bilge Pump Location
Background: My 17' lapstrake takes in a small amount of water each outing. I trailer the boat so it is not sitting in water all the time. When I return home, I always raise the bow as high as it can go to get the water to the drain hole. Today, I had to remove the rear floor section and noticed that...

James, Engine, Prop and Blade is your best bet. Phone number can be found in an earlier post. Did you, by any chance, buy your boat from the storage place on Rawson Ave in Franklin? Saw a twin cockpit boat for sale there not long ago. Also, take the time to cruise through Kendor on Ryan Rd. It's lik...

Wood Boat People "Get It"
Well said, John. There really isn't anything like the feeling I get when I put my '59 Chetek lapstrake in the water and get the "thumbs up" from those around us. I really believe we wooden boat people "get it". What's "It"? The appreciation of things well made by crafts...
