Be careful buying old gas tanks. Check them close inside for any rust or any other build up of residue from old gas, ect. I squeezed 2 12 gallon plastic tanks under the rear seat of my '59 Sea Lancer and have a valve to switch from one tank to the other. With my '63 Merc 85 h.p. being as thirsty as ...

I had the same anti-fouling paint on my '59 Sea Lancer. The purpose of the paint is to not allow anything to stick to it by constantly leaching off some of the surface. This is what makes it difficult to paint over. Since I also keep mine on a trailer I stripped and sanded it off using respirator ma...

I agree with Verne on the full cover usage while towing. As for the bimini and other pieces, if you have a good tent and awning place they should be able to help you out. If you have the old top and the bows it will save you some money. You could also check with local boat dealers and see who does w...

I have a 1959 Sea Lancer. I don't have a gasket between the windshield frame and the deck. The side windows have the gasket the goes in the rabbet in the frame and holds the glass in place. The front glass is in aluminum frames and they can be opened. The family friend that I bought the boat from bo...

I am sure Andreas will correct me if I am wrong, but according to your hull number you have a 1959 Sea Lancer. The first number in the hull number is the last digit of the year of production of a Peshtigo Thompson (9). The next 4 are the number that the boat is in the line of production at the Pesht...

Mine are in the area of the sister keelsons and are about 5 ft long. Make sure that they go past the transom. If they are a little wider like that it will make the boat more stable on the trailer and spread out the stress points on the hull. I put a second set of bunks right next to the center rolle...

I have seen this mentioned before, and to my knowledge it is not true. As long as it maintained properly it is just as safe as any other kind of steering. That is what I have on my '59 Sea Lancer and I have had no problems at all. The Coast Guard Auxillary was doing volentary inspections at the boat...

I have been using Interlux Brightside and have been very satisfied with the results. I have been using the Blu-White and it looks good on the boat and easy to use. It lays out real nice and leaves a smooth finish. I haven't used the Petit paints yet, but would think they would be very similar. Bill ...
