Brad, You need to set up a free account in a web based hosting service such as Photobucket. You upload photos from your computer onto the web account, then copy the image link from it, then paste it in the IMG box here when you make a post. You say your transom is more enclosed. You may have what's ...

Brad, My '60 with the 50hp gets on plane with no problem at all. That's with 3 people aboard, battery, 10gals of fuel and an anchor. I was even able to back off the throttle a bit and it stayed on plane.

PS: Mine is also a Peshtigo built boat. It's odd that they lowered the HP rating in '60....

My '60 Sea Coaster is rated for a max of 70hp. You're '59 is 75hp???? Maybe they down-sized the '60??? Mine is 15' 10". My 50hp motor is 210# and the transom is low in the water.

Well, I hope I'll never have to do it but if so, I was thinking about paddling to shore and jumping out (if the water isn't too cold). That way I could stand there and work on it. And if I dropped a tool I could retrieve it. :D

Dan, My '58 Evinrude is supposed to have a clutch on the prop shaft in case it hits something which will allow the prop to slip rather than breaking the shaft. I always worry when that safety feature might go lame and just let the prop free spin. I'm not looking forward to paddling back. And I don't...

Dan, I"m not an expert on that issue. I'd just follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Dan, Phill's recommendation is sound because you might be able to find a good one at less cost. But I just wanted to tell you that the MSA was not a random pick I made. I've used their units for many years for paints and other nasty VOCs. They are top quality and will last you decades (as opposed to...

Another great photo from your collection! The rear swivel looks like it's adjustible to find the neutral balance point. That makes me wonder if the bow eyes were installed at the neutral balance point as well (depending on the model).

Peter, You probably don't want to change course in mid-stream, but have you considered looking for an original pair of mahogany seats from a boat someone's parting out, then refinishing them? That way you'd be starting with the right wood and following Andreas' suggestions, they should come out a re...

I agree. It gives me more appreciation for my '60 Sea Coaster knowing it started life in much the same way. I wonder how they flipped them over after the hull was done....

Would you like to trade the 664 surface mount for a 664 flush mount? I don't want to drill a hole that big in my dash. Or if no trade, how is yours priced? Mine is NOS.
Thanks
