Peter: I did not notice any gaps in mine, but I tightened all of the bolts and screws; quit counting at 1400! I have put over 140 miles on mine this year; I am amazed more than anyone that it does not leak! One of my daughters went with me the other day to Big Sam and we tested the patch in heavy ch...

Re: bottom repair and refinish

Fastened new deck halves and haves edges close to faired. Started fastening with #4 3/4in brass screws...when pulling down enough so they could be filled, many would twist off. I was slow by hand. Fastened remaining with #6 3/4in stainless. Started by hand, finished by drill. Filled, sanded, looks g...

Re: Bottom Rebuild (prev. 'At a cross road')

Peter, great pic of rail. Did not remove mine, but mine had "extra" screw holes on bottom side? I filled with caulk to keep water out. No rot though. Keep it up.

Re: bottom repair and refinish

Friends came over and we got her flipped right side up. Placed on tires covered with carpet. Removed bow decking as I will replace. Never saw so many staples! Structure under decks looked great after 56 years. Whew.
