tops and full covers

My 58 Sea Lancer is nearing completion and I was wondering if any of you have had bimini tops or full covers bought or made for your boat? The full cover would be for only trailering so maybe could get buy with a premade top? I have the old ripped green bimini so will probably just have to get one m...

Thompson pads

From my research my pads came from the Thompson factory but like Andreas says, they were used by many boat companies and dealers. The problem is that you can not get them anymore(especially in white) in that size and style. Even my neighbor's Correct Craft has the same ones. I still plan to get a fe...

good news on step pads

I just got off the phone with Wefco Rubber co. and they are willing to make step pads for us if I send my old one as a sample. Mine are off of my 58 Sea Lancer but are other years the same size for I might order extras and bring them along to the meet this summer? They can also provide me with winds...

1958 catalog help

I am still deciding on windshield bottom moulding or not. My 58 Sea Lancer I feel never had the moulding and the windows are held in with aluminum strips which are nailed in. Andreas feels that it did have the moulding. The 58 on the picture page does not have it and a Thompson magazine ad I have do...

58 Sea Lancer questions

My boat is coming along very well and in the process of final finishing exterior. When I removed the windshield it had no white gasket uder it. Did the 58 have this when new and was the Thompson logo on the side the blue or just white? I have an ad for the 57 when it was introduced and there was no ...

update on the motor

I talked to the owner and got the numbers. model V4SL12 and serial# 2048813. It has the manual shift with electric start but no control wires. I have not seen it yet but the picture looks good and he says the hood is in great condition. I looked on the old OMC site and I think they made it from 60-6...

75 hp. 1960's Johnson

I guy where I used to live in Wi has a 75 Johnson out of the 60's that he might give to me. What years did they make a 75 and how about the shifting? I understand the electric shift is not desireable. The hood looks good and it runs so I thought I would take it. I did just buy a 2008 75 ETec for my ...

chrome and step pads

My boat is coming along well so started on the chrome. With a buffing wheel, dremel tool, and polishing paste along with flitz almost all came back like new except the bow light. My 58 Sea Lancer has a bow light from Alexandria Boat Works I believe. Rather than rechroming, I have been looking for a r...

final engine plans

My 58 Sea Lancer has a rebuilt and reinforced transom and has a great straight bottom. Had Norton Boat works in GReen Lake Wi. do some of the work. It will have teleflex steering and must have tilt and trim due to my lake chain. I have decided to spring for a new 75 white E Tec but still a bit conce...

Can't find a posted picture

My transom is in the process of being redone and I saw a picture on here of a member who added a back deck which looked really good and at the same time would add transom strength and support for the back seat and also could be engineered to replace the wood battery box for center support. It is als...

going to a newer engine

I have done the assement on my new 58 Sea Lancer and when completed will have an excellent and strong hull. I am an OMC guy and on my chain of lakes tilt and trim is very handy. I am looking at a 1989 Johnson 70 and have seen several 85's from the late 1970's. They changed to prop rating in 1984 so ...

inside stained from factory?

Have stripped out the inside of my new 58 Sea Lancer and the floor and sides I think were stained at the factory. I have the front seats with the compartments with wood doors on the back and they were a bugger to remove. The stain in that area indicates the factory did indeed stain the entire inside...

need parts?

I just finished stripping my 58 Sea Lancer and have 2 Evinrude 50 hp motors for parts if anybody wants them. Lower units and hoods ok but motors would take a rebuild. I live in EAgle River in northern Wi free

spindle size

Tomorrow I leaqve for Illinois to pick up my new boat. ASea Lancer with a TeeNee trailer(boat is 1958 and probably trailer too) I want to replace the hubs but do not know the spindle size. I would guess 1" straight spindle but it could be 1 1/16 or 1 1/8. The old tires are 6by 12 with four lug....
