Laid the oversized piece on the deck and traced along the underneath for the actual size. Recut the sheet leaving around a quarter of an inch overhang.

Re: Fairing products

Caulking and Fairing compound are to totaly different things. Caulking good for sealing plank edges and some cracks and most joints or under your keel. If you are looking to smooth an area or to take out slight dips in the planks use a 2 part Marine grade Fairing compound. After it drys can be sande...

Re: Location of Windshield on 1968 Sea Lancer

According to my quick investigation the OBC was rolled into the BIA along with some other groups starting in 1964.
No exact date was given for how long both titles were used.

Good for you Andreas.
Nothing like a good road trip to clear out the cobwebs. Glad all went well.

Re: 1960 Sea Lancer

Yes it is possible to rebuild these older motors. My question is does it need to be "rebuilt" or does it just need a tuneup and an impeller replacement. I am currently working on twin 1957 35 horse Johnson's that have not been run since 1970. Cleaned out the fuel systems. New coil and spar...

Re: Windshield 1959 Sea Lancer

I don't have a windshield like this but here are some suggestions for what they are worth. Check every inch of the surrounding frame for any possible screws that may hold the frame together.Usualy at the corners but you never know. If nothing can be found, I would then lay the frame down on a flat s...

Re: Sealing joints

Be careful as some sealants are just like adhesive. Make things hard to take apart if you ever have to.

Re: To Miles and Andreas

So am I the only one on this site that reads it cover to cover. LOL My lengthy first comment on this thread was in regards to a post on the home page from Miles and Andreas in regards to Thompson boats being judged at ACBS events. In regard to the second part of your post Miles. I believe that a&quo...

To Miles and Andreas

Miles and Andreas. I read your response to the ACBS with great interest and I feel that you hit the nail on the head. Like most of you I have been messing with wooden boats for a long time( as well as cars, motorcycles, etc) and have watched the hobby grow. The nice thing about the Thompsons is that ...

Re: Towing Vehicle Question

I towed for many years using a manuel transmission and never had a problem. Although using a clutch can get interesting at the launch ramp. My main criteria for a tow vehicle has always been wheel base length. I see way to many people with smaller SUV's type vehicles towing trailers that are...

Re: What is She?

The part that is throwing me is the combination of the lower lapstrakes with the upper solid plywood. I have owned a few Lymans and don't think that I have ever seen one that looked like that (not that I have seen them all). I think that we are going to find that it is from one of the companys that ...
