Tightening Bolts Before Launching?

Here’s the story to date. I bought my boat before winter, and have been staring at it in my garage since. Now that the weathers finally decent in WI, I can work on it! The boats has been out of the water, for 7 years now from what I know. I went over all the mechanicals, drained the 7 year old gas f...

Does anyone have an extra copy of "The Thompson Dockside" with the step-by-step article I could get a copy of? I recieved the sample article, and wasn't really that impressed. for $20 I felt I could spend my money better elsewhere. Also, if anyone has any good book recomendations for resto...

Thanks John. Sounds like a large undertaking, but well worth it. on average, what is the restoration cost / hours for such a project? Want to make sure to budget accordingly when I do it right. I was thinking of getting 2 hoists for my garage, and suspending the boat so that I could have an easier t...

To Fload, or Not to Fload?

So after reading some of the previous posts, I am still confused. My boat had been stored since (I think) 2002. It's a 1957 Sea Coaster "Model 477” (That’s for helping I.D.!) The last time it was out, the owner said there was a little leaking near the transom on the bottom, but once it soaked u...

Thanks so much! Looks like the $900 I paid is more than fair. (since in '57 it was about that) Should afford me to make upgrades / restorations and get it by the wife. Nice to know the padding (although re-done) would have been original. If anyone has the information corresponding to the builder, or...

It's home! Here's the info I was able to gather: HULL ID: F71080 (and I think there's a O or a Q behind that) from what I've learned, this means made by "F", whoever that was, and made in 1957, being #1080 in production. I assume the O or Q is the trimmer. If you can fill in the blanks, le...

I tried to log in and found my user name and the posting removed. So, I re-registered and typed it all in again... no idea. I will get all the info tommorow when I pick the boat up. I'm just trying to draft up the bill of sale for the previous owner to sign... maybe he's right in assuming '57 then. ...

1957 Runabout or Other?

I recently purchsed this boat and the title is listed as a 15' 1957 Runabout. I was hoping someone could help me identify based onthe photos. I am looking forward to continuing its restoration, and getting as much infromation as I can from it. I know from previous requests, you want the HULL-ID. I w...
