Why not hang it off the back of the transom? My father did it on his fiberglass boat and it worked fine.

Forget about cosmetics until the boat is sea worthy and safe and structurally sound. Repair or replace any rotten wood or cracked split wood in planking, ribs, keelson, stem, keel, stringers, transom, etc... A lapstrake boat like this should NOT leak. If it leaks, there is a PROBLEM. Get it fixed. ...

As long as the glass doesn't have a weatherstrip around it, assume that the frame was assembled around the glass. As Karl said, look for evidence of screws at the corners. IF you find little round spots that are different colors than the rest of the frame, that's where the screws are. Dig out whatev...

That stuff is just rubberized undercoating that you can buy in any auto parts store. (for 1/3 the price)
