Clark, you did great on price! Seems very solid an easy restoration. Put some water in hull and see were she leaks. Keel caps and around transom are usually the culprit for most leaks.

Good luck, very nice boat!!!

What a beautiful original boat. Any wooden boat stored for a length of time will take on some water when launched. I agree keel cap and around transom are usually the culprits. I always spray my hulls down with water on the inside a day or so before launching, this always helps. Wow, even the origin...

I have a 115 Johnson that acted the same way and it was crap in the carbs plugging things up. The seals had broken up inside the carbs into small pieces and would cause that problem off and on. Runs perfect after carb rebuild.

I have been using synthetic 2 stoke for several years now and have had good results and a lack of fouled plugs since.

I just brought home one like this Saturday. It was given to me by someone who could not finish it. I will post some shots soon. Mine is supposed to be a 1959 with wooden windshield and varnished decks.

Brightwork refinish

My 65 model 20' Cruisers Inc Seacamper was in need of a freshen up on the varnish work after three years use. I started by removing the stainless strips and rubber seals around windows. I decided to do cabin sides, combing, and splash well first, I like to work on areas until finished then move on t...

Peter, I used Formula 27 a marine bondo type filler that I have used extensively on several different hulls with very good results. I think West Marine sells it under their name also. I am doing some refinishing on this hull right now and cannot find any evidence of the repairs. It works well for fi...

Brian, I will look in my photos, but I am pretty sure I disassembled the splash well before taking photos. If you carefully disassemble any parts of these boats any piece can be replicated or refinished. I was able to reuse all of my well except the floor of the well. I used the rotted original as a...
