The serial no. on the transom is A8418Y there is a pencil mark also that is 202?

Thanks guys it is truly a labor of love doing the things that we do!! The boat is a 61 16-6 pamlico model..looks to have never been refinished...all wood was good and solid ..the decks needed replacing..in the process...only sand sand sand..no stripper as only the original finish was on the wood pai...

Love the looks of the evinrude..that line recieved more in the way of styling than the johnsons...but they loved fuel!

I have used aa awl and a pick tool to pry the nail heads up slightly the use needle nose pliers to pull them out..the nails I pulled out were smooth shank and came out easily..give me a call if you like..Buddy

Welcome to the G/W club..I have a 61 pamlico that is under restoration...the trailer that it was on hogged the last 4 feet of bottom about 3/8 to 1/2 in spots..since the decks were shot I removed the windshield and with the help of a few friends flipped her over and coeercted the problem with mas ep...

Thanks for the info..the oak ribs are a golden color...and the ply is a darker color very nice contrast...someone recomened oxalic acid as a bleach...is this a good practice...do you have to neutralize the bleach or acid before finishing?

wood bleach

After sanding and staining several oak ribs on my 62 lapstrake project I noticed wherever the finish was down to bare wood turned black...is it too late to use wood bleach and try again? Thanks to all who moderate and post on this site..lots of friendly and knowledgable people!!
