Sorry to hear about your uncle. Anyone from the forums is always welcome to stop by for a beer (or soft drink) and to see my lack of any real progress on my boat!

Nice man, I totally agree. After looking at Johns pictures and getting a few details it seems like the logical way to do things.

Keep up the good work, you have me itching to start working on mine now.

John's boat from crosby TX

John, I have followed along with your posts and information with great interest and thought it would be wise to start a new thread with more condensed information. I have questions, I could call you or email but it makes more sense to me to ask in an open forum where everyone can see what you did an...

Nice work!

I used citristrip on the topside with great results, and plan on using it for the sides and bottom as well.

Pardon me for sneaking in here, but it seems to be somewhat on topic. I ASSume it is neccessary to remove the garboard plank in order to scarf it properly. I also ASSume it is okay to scarf new wood onto my old garboard planks? I need to replace about the last 3' and it would be really nice to be ab...

Steve, if I remember correctly there are also screws through the garboard plank into the ribs.

Ill be watching, my garboard planks need replacement (or repair) from being left on a trailer that was bunked improperly.

Peter, you are very correct in that the ribs are deformed as well. Only one side of the boat really appears to have taken a beating from sitting on the trailer so I had planned on copying the ribs from the side without the hogging. Yes, this is much too bad to fair out with epoxy or anything of that...

Garboard plank replacement..

Okay I am not dealing with rot but need to remove my garboad plank on at least one side of the boat due to it sagging from sitting on a trailer. The wood looks somewhat damaged an I want to replace it. Now, looking at it.. it appears I can just flip the boat, cut and remove fasteners and replace the...
