Re: Gas Tank location.

I have a '59 Sea Lancer with a '63 Merc 85 horse. She tends to be a little thirsty, so I have 2 12 gallon tanks under the back seat just in front of the splash well. I have a manual switch to change tanks. The switch was there when I bought the boat, but the previous owner had 3 old steel tanks unde...

Re: Thompson Boat Rally

Really sorry we can't make it this year. We had a great time the last 2 that we were at. I hope others decide to come at the last minute. Even if your boat isn't a show piece, bring it along no matter the the condition. You will get a lot more out of the show just in ideas for yours, or compliments ...

Re: new garboard question

Andreas,
I think they were looking at getting 2 pieces out of 1 48" sheet of plywood. At 25" each that won't work, obviously. Those drawings are great. They break down the construction of these boats to something simple.

Re: Filler

That sounds a lot like the ones I used. This place specializes in boat numbers and lettering and any other outdoor lettering on vehicles of any kind. They have many different styles to pick from. I have had the numbers on my boat from here for 5 years with no problems. They also can be removed witho...

Re: Filler

I had mine made at a local sign shop. They are vinyl and self adhesive and look pretty good. I put them in the same place you were describing. As long as the varnish is clean and free of grease or oil you shouldn't have any problems. Mine have been on for a couple years and I haven't had any problem...

Re: 1960 Sea Lancer

I have a '59 Sea Lancer and it is rated for up to 90 h.p. I have a '63 85 h.p. Merc on it and I can get between 35 to 40 mph according to the speedometer in the boat. Since the 60 h.p. Johnson isn't original to the boat, I would check it out and if it would take too much to get it going I would kick...

Re: crusier inc 13 ft. mariner wood windshield trouble

I am not familiar with the way it is on a Cruiser, but my '59 Peshtigo Thompson has a slot cut in the frame of the side glass just on the outside edge of the glass that one part of the gasket tucks into to hold it in place. The windshield glass has an aluminum frame around it and that is the part th...

This is the only kind of boating we can do up here on the west coast of Wisconsin this time of year!

Go ahead and rub it in!! They are talking single digit temps with below zero wind chills up here in western Wisconsin tonight. The water is a lot harder up here too!!!

Andreas,
Are you going to continue to pass on current information on this site for all of us " non-Facebook" old fogies?

Re: Thompson Boat Rally 2013

Andreas,
I know I saw the form for the registration for the Rally on line somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now. Could you post it again, or e-mail me one?

Re: Thompson Boat Rally 2013

I just made a reservation at the Comfort Inn. From what I was seeing on line, it looked like they only had a few rooms left.
See you there!

Re: Air horn

I have an electric solenoid as a switch. This is the one that has been on there from day one, so I am not sure where to get one. Maybe J C Whitney or someplace similar. Sorry I can't be more help.

Re: Air horn

I have a dual Spartan air horn on my boat. My dad bought the horn probably in the early 60's. I have an air tank under the deck that I just refill with my compressor. I have up to 120 P.S.I. in the tank and it is VERY LOUD and a fill lasts for up to a season or more, depending on how much noise I wa...

Re: Bilge Pump ?

As long as the outlet is well above the potential water line there is no reason for it. If I remember right, when I installed mine the instructions ( I know we are not supposed to read them until all else fails) says to make sure the drain line is higher than the outlet at least once to prevent any ...
