Non Thompson Question (Hacker Craft)
I know this is a Thompson Boats forum and I am mindful to keep my posts to issues regarding my Cruiser's Inc Commander 302V, but to be honest, I find the members of this site to be far easier to communicate with than the two other boat related websites I've joined. As such, with apologies for this b...

Phil Thanks for the advice. I can tell you that the plywood under the vinyl was just common fir and not something I'd want to sand, stain and varnish. The boat would look like I'd built it in my garage. My thought process has to do with the fact that this boat is more of a stepping stone to a better ...

Reading this thread, the obvious question becomes - - - - -if , when my boat is upside down and I've stripped off all the old bottom paint and replaced the keelson, why shouldn't I coat the wetted hull in fiberglass resin, cover with shredded glass and more resin and when hardened sand down and pain...

White stripes between wood on topside
They say the only dumb question is the one you don't ask, so here goes. When I look at a nice old wooden boat and the topside surface wood has white stripes between the wood under the varnish , what am I seeing ? How is this look accomplished.

No staples. It just friction fits into the groove in the wood. 0109G is correct for gunwale rub rail. Good luck trying to find the aluminum end cap. Andreas Not to argue Andreas because I know you've forgotten more about these boats than I'll ever know, but in looking at rebuilding my windshield as...

I am trying to deterimine the direction I want to take in restoring my boat. I think it best to state that I am not interested in this boat as a showpiece. My intent is to return it to service. Having said that though I would ask which is the better route to go in being able to maintain it once I've...

Got it Phil - - Thanks. Kind of a duh moment. I had my favorites set on the index and not the home page so I had to backtrack. Since the windshield assembly is not in my possesion, I am waiting to hear how much of the windhow seating material I need to order. On another note, has anyone redone the v...

Any chance the orginal bottom paint would turn rust red over time ? The fellow I bought my 62 Commander 302V from said he was the 2nd owner and all he did was paint the hull a similar shade of blue as the topside vinyl. The bottom paint seems to be a heck of a lot older than the sides of the hull an...

I ordered and recieved an orginal Johnson 1967 Owner's Manual from i-boats along with a service/parts manual for same. The service/parts manual was written in recent years and I believe that to be a plus because it seems to include information on what the cantankerous issues with these big two strok...

PS to Andreas With the Thompson CD at hand there's no way my boat can be anything other than a 62 302V Commander. I've looked at all the brochures paying special attention to the features that came with the boat and what could have been done for options and it has to be a 62. No other year comes clo...
