Bill-

Good timing! I heading over to the local cabinet shop soon to see if they can help me with making a new piece for my windshield frame, drill out the old dowells, and glue it all back together. I'll also ask them about a supplier for white oak. Thanks!

Andreas- Sorry for leaving out the details. My boat is a Peshtigo-built Sea Lancer, serial no. 28444, with a 120 HP Mercruiser I/O. You had said it's the highest serial number you have record of. Probably more likely a late '68 or '69 model. Wouldn't be interesting to find out if it's the LAST Sea L...

Sea Lancer Keel Dimensions

I'm contemplating replacing the keel on my Sea Lancer this spring. It's pretty chewed up on the forward portion of the straight piece, and seems to be the source of some leakage. I've read that straight-grain, heart-wood, air-dried white oak is the wood of choice for this project (if I include repla...

Thanks, Andreas. I have center rollers (though one mount and roller fell off on the way home from picking up the boat). The current side roller assemblies are about 4' long, but I plan to extend the bunks at least another foot. Question: What is the best distance from the keel to locate the bunks if...

Replacing Trailer Rollers with Bunks

My late-model Sea Lancer came with a beat-up, old trailer that has rollers. I want to try and rebuild the trailer before I give up and replace it entirely. First step is to replace the rollers with bunks. I currently have one set of rollers aft, supporting the last 48" or so of the boat (includ...

Well, I got my brochure CD from WCHA today and tried to look up my 1970 (on the registration) Sea Lancer. Since no wood baots are listed in the 1970 brochure, I went to 1969. I can't seem to match my boat up with the specs in the brochure, based on my OBC plate info. My OBC plate lists a max HP of 1...

Man, I would love to find a hull number on my boat! I'll keep looking.

Thanks to all of you for all the great information you have been sharing. It means a lot to us first-timers.

Thank for the information, Andreas. I guess I'll feed my monkey a varying diet until I get the color I want.

I was curious: What denotes a "Super" Lancer vs. a Sea Lancer? Most, if not all the Sea Lancer photos I have seen have an outboard. The only Super Lancer photo I've seen has an I/O like mine.

Late Model Peshigo-Built Lancer Paint & Finish Schemes

Well, now that I'm done trying to track down the exact year my boat was built, I can now concentrate on things like proper paint and finish schemes. It's safe to say that I have a late '60s (registration sez "1970")18' Thompson Bros. Peshigo (Sea or Super?) Lancer. I'd like to know what ty...

Andreas- Actually, your explanation makes more sense to me than a case where I'm just not seeing a hull number. It was driving me crazy! I spoke to the P.O. today and asked him about it. He said he never saw any hull number stamped in the transom. Between his and your explanation, I feel much better...

The windshield frame on my "1970 Sea Lancer" (yet to be confirmed) was off the boat and in pieces when I bought it. It has rot on the ends of the side frames. I have seen rotted wood window frames in old houses repaired with hard filler material. Is that something Thompson owners do, or is...

I looked all over the transom yesterday and couldn't find any hull number. I do have the "serial number plate" like the example you showed for the 1958 Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. Off Shore. Mine is located inside on the rear starboard rail. Could that be it? Could it have been moved? htt...

Andreas- I took the rear interior panels off either side of the outdrive and checked the inside of the transom. I moved a ventilation hose out of the way, but the blower the hose is attached to is mounted on the starboard side and that may be covering the hull number. What would be the size of this ...
