Roll and tip painting

Post by richnle »

The information I have seen from both Pettit and Interlux suggest rolling in one direction and tipping off with strokes at 90 degrees. On lapstrakes, if I roll along the length of the boards and tip off across the boards, I would think that would lead to more brush imperfections at the start of all these short strokes. I would appreciate any experiences you can share. Also, am I best off doing the tipping with a bristle brush or a foam brush?

Thanks!

Brush with the length of the planking. Those instructions are probably geared towards carvel planked, smooth hulled boats.
