Is that code stamped into the wood of the transom? Or is it one the box you mentioned?

If it's stamped into the wood, you MIGHT have a 1957 model year boat.

160 inches is 13' -4" which would put you in the range of the Mariner model.

Cruisers, Inc. started up in September 1953 and for about the first year they made boats for Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. which were sold to Thompson and badged as Thompson.

Brochures for Cruisers, Inc. are available for sale on a CD-ROM from Dan Miller at www.dragonflycanoe.com and also at www.wcha.org

My guess is that she is a 1957 model year boat, the Mariner. Can't be certain without additional measurements and seeing some pictures however.

Cruisers, Inc. probably made about 2,000 to 3,000 boats (of all models) in 1957. There are NO production records to check, but this is about what they made annually duruing her peak years. No clue how many of any particular model were built. But the 16 footer was most likely one of the more propular models.

There are many, many boat shows each weekend all summer long. Check out the various chapters of teh Antique & Classic Boat Society www.acbs.org

The Heartland Chapter of ACBS is hosting their Woodies cruisin' weekend this June 8,9 and 10 at Branson, Missouri. There should be at least two Thompson Brothers boats on the water that weekend.

For details call Don or Kathy Parker at 402 770-5400 or email them at donaldwparker@hotmail.com
