another thompson

Post by andre lafrance »

an elderly couple, friends of my wife, gave us a Thompson that had not been used in years - especially with a crack in the hull. I haven't found any serial numbers on the id plate BUT at the top of the plate it has MODEL GV 170. it is about 16' long and must have been a beautiful boat at one time - dual spotlights, dual horns, etc. the couple haven't been able to find the title, but think they purchased the boat in the 60's. the name plate at the stern says Thompson boats Peshtigo Wisconsin. I'd like to restore it, but first I have to finish my '57 Thompson. any information is appreciated. thanks...

Fun.

GV-170 indicates "Glass V 17 footer". It's a fiberglass boat with V hull and 17 foot long. This model was introduced to the line of Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. in 1968.
