Straight Hitch or Drop Hitch

I just sold my Astro van and am buying a used Tahoe... I just used a straight hitch, to slide into a 2" receiver, immediately under the bumper on my van (Drawtight).... It seemed to provide a pretty level trailer/boat arrangement.

However, I need to configure the new vehicle and I see a lot of drop hitches... what do you folks use on a vehicle the height of a Tahoe/Suburban.... a straight shaft... 2"drop... more?

I've a Nissan Pathfinder with a factory hitch. I use about a two inch drop receiver, which is about an inch too high even with the wheel jack thing at the front at full height. I have to lift the trailer onto the ball. But once on the ball, a nice level hook up.

Perhaps once you have the truck, measure the height of the hitch, measure the height of the trailer coupler when level, take the difference and pick a receiver that most closely matches the diff.
