Season greetings everyone.

Please help me with some THOMBOY history. I just purchased a THOMBOY. I don't know the hull number yet, but it sure looks like a Thompson. it is from Ill.

Looking for finished picures, and ideas. Tell me what you did right or wrong...

I need ALL the hardware, steeringwheel, and windshield.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Waupaca, Wisconsin[/u]

Hi Gary,

The very first issue of the "Thompson Dockside" newsletter had an article on the THOMBOY history. Or was it the second issue??? This covered both the earlier strip built hulls and later lapstrake hulls.

Is this a lapstrake boat or strip built? I have TWO 1955 Thomboy models, the strip built variety.

PS. I am sitting in Peshtigo, WI right now. Out the window I can see the old Thompson Boat factory. It is abandoned and empty and for sale. Someone wanna buy it?

The boat I am dealing on is a strip built boat. The owner is an older guy and is having a hard time locationg the hull number.

If it's truly a strip built THOMBOY, she is a rare model. About 15 are known to exist. The TVT Super Deluxe model was similar to a Thomboy and lots of folks get them mixed up. The TVT Super Deluxe is definately not as rare as the Thomboy.

The hull ID will be stamped into the wood of the transom, inside the boat, starboard side.

Do you have any pictures that can be posted here or emailed directly to me?

Gary sent me some photos of the boat in question. It is NOT a Thomboy. It is a TVT DeLuxe Speedster. I have narrowed the model year from 1939 to 1943. She's not as rare as a Thomboy, but she is still a fairly rare model.
