1958 sea lancer

Post by AndyM »

Now that I have a finished Thompson Offshore I just picked up an Old Sea Lancer.
I'm told it's a 1958 Sea Lancer

I have the serial number: 12483

I can only see 4 of the digits stamped on the Transom there is wood blocking the middle numbers The numbers I can see are Z8 then at the end is 9M i'd have to take it apart to see the middle numbers.

Thompson Bros. Boat Mfg. Co. of Peshtigo, WI serial number 12483 might be 1957 or 1958.

In my database, serial number 12481 is a 1957 model year boat and 12499 is a 1958.

I suggest you determine the complete HULL ID to verify the year.

Also, if she is a Sea Lancer, the size changed from 1957 to 1958. In '57 she is 16'-7" centerline length and in '58 she is 16'-9" centerline length.

If she is a 1958 model year Sea Lancer, the standard hull colour is lemonade yellow with white as an option. She should not be that goofy two tone like in the picture. And if bottom paint is utilized, it should follow the waterline NOT the planking line.

Oh, the bow light looks newer. Can't tell if the stern light is age appropriate or not. The bow chocks and lifting ring look accurate.
