heartwood/sapwood keelson?

Am looking for wood as I need to rebuild keelson. Lumberyard says can furnish wood that will be "some heartwood but will be some sapwood on the edges." To my uneducated mind, this doesn't seem good. Should I turn this down?

Sapwood of any species has ZERO decay resistance. No matter what the species is, avoid sapwood in a marine environment.

Sapwood can be cut off. You may have to purchase several pieces that are oversized to get to the heartwood.
