Picked up my first Cruisers inc. boat this weekend and trying to figure out what year and model it is. Previous owner said it was a 1961 18' boat, however he had no idea what model it is even though he has owned it since 1973. Number on the transom is 9-69720. I measure the transom at 67.5 inches, the beam at 78 inches and the length at maybe 17 feet. The obc plate has the capacity at 1204lbs and the max hp at 110hp. What is it?

Got any pictures? If the bow has a wood border about 6 inches wide around the perimeter of the foredeck it is a 1961, If the decks are completely covered in vinyl then it is post 1961. All natural deck would be 1960 or earlier.

Don't know about the front deck, the previous owner took the boat apart 30 years ago and it been sitting upside down in his garage since then. He talked about the front and side deck covered in vinyl, just don't know if that was original.

Are you sure about the " - " in the hull ID? Never seen one in a Cruisers, Inc. boat hull ID.

Is the OBC capacity 1240 pounds possibly?

The COMMANDER model had an OBC capacity of 110 HP and 1240 pounds in 1959 and 1960. She was model 300 or 302 in 1959 and model 302 in 1960. Centerline length of 17'-0" and gunwale length of 18'-5" in 1959 and she was redesigned and grew in size to centerline length of 17'-2" and gunwale length of 18'-7" in 1960. There was another redesign for the 1961 model year and she became 17'-10" centerline and 19'-2" gunwale lengths. The OBC weight rating was bumped up to 1870 pounds but HP rating reduced to 95.

In 1961 the deck would have been partially covered in vinyl. NO vinyl in 1960 or 1959.

My guess is that you have a 1959 or 1960 Commander model.

Looked at the number stamped into the transom again. Its hard to tell if there is a dash or if its just a fleck in the wood. Ill take a look at the OBC plate again and report back. I'll also see if I can get the boat flipped over and get some pictures.

Did a little looking at the boat this weekend. Had a chance to take a few more measurements. Gunwal length-18'5" LOA-17' Beam-80" Transom-67" Weight is listed at 1204lbs and horse power is 110. The stamped number looks like 969720.

Im thinking its a 1959 Commander 300.
