Wooden Thompson Sportsmen Project Boat with Trailer
Someone who promises not to send her to the burn pile can have this project boat FREE!
She is a 1964, 16-foot, Thompson Sportsmen Model 1620; Hull I.D. B40866; Serial No. 25593. (I think that 64' was the only year this model was offered.)
I acquired her 2 years ago from a gentleman in Wisconsin and after removing some bad wood, and many years of dirt, I discovered that she needs more work, time, and space than I have to give. For starters, she needs several ribs, a few hull planks, and all new decking. She was last licensed in Wisconsin (1999) - - but - - as a different year and model. So - - she hasn’t seen water for at least 10 years and I do not have her title. I will provide a bill of sale that should legally transfer ownership so she can be licensed when again sea-worthy.
All parts that have been removed (windshield, steering mechanism, trim, gauges, radio, etc.), and diagrams and templates that I made while removing parts will be given to the new owner. Two "pedestal" seats (obviously not original equipment) will also be included.
The new owner will need to pick up this ole girl in Sycamore, Illinois – approximately 70 miles West of Chicago. You will need a 1-7/8” hitch ball and a standard 4-pin light connection, but I cannot guarantee that the lights will always function. Or, bring a flatbed trailer for safe transportation. (The trailer is 1960’s vintage with quite a bit of rust, but it has new tires.)
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have and I have several additional photos to share. Please contact ajraymonds@verizon.net with serious inquiries. (IL) (176)

1959 Thompson Sea Skiff. It does not get any better than this.
I bought the boat two years ago from the son of the original owner who passed away. He bought the boat new in Michigan in 1959. My intent was to move to Idaho and use it on one of the lakes there, but as John Lennon said “Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans.” and I need to sell it.
The boat might have seen use in 1959 and 1960 though there is no indication it was actually in the water. The family moved in 1961 and the boat has been in storage since. It is a totally original 13’ Thompson Sea Skiff that has never been painted or revarnished. The gauges are original and nothing has been altered or taken off the boat since it was delivered to the owner in 1959.
The Sea Skiff is the smallest of the Thompson lapstrakes. I believe that of the two models produced, this is the more deluxe version. The engine is a 1959 Johnson 35 horse super sea horse electric start. When I take the cowling off people can’t believe how clean it is. The trailer is also the original. It is a tilt type. She comes with the original bimini top and side windows. The boat is in Southern California. Serious inquiries only. Gary, 949-296-5932 (CA) (175)
